Band on the Rise: Of Monsters and Men

April 5, 2011 § Leave a comment

It was good to see these guys up on hype machine this morning, seems like it’s only a matter of time before they become a strong presence in the U.S. The band is Of Monsters and Men, hailing from Iceland and once again, being introduced to us through Seattle’s KEXP Their facebook says they used to be mainly acoustic, but after adding some bass, piano, drums, and the more prevalent than ever accordion, they now have a much bigger sound. Check out their hit ‘Little Talks’ (Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros anyone?) that is sure to elevate their U.S. visibility soon.

Stream ‘Little Talk’s now (and catch yourself whistling along)

This hippie can soothe the soul.
Last summer, a few months after their debut album, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros dominated the festival scene and regularly left their audiences in amazement. Now Edward, aka Alexander Ebert, will be releasing a solo album next Tuesday. Check out the first single “Truth”, which has already received much acclaim.
(Not sure why the soundcloud is just the play button, but for the full track info + another track, visit Alex’s Soundcloud.)
