UPDATE: the videos dont work so you’ll have to follow the links to youtube, sorry all
A long-time and faithful reader of GypsySphere just gave me a heads up about this band, Two Door Cinema Club. They are a three-piece indie trio from Northern Ireland and their debut album Tourist History came out exactly a year ago yesterday on Kitsuné Music, a French record label.
I was immediately sucked in by the band’s sound. Their catchy melodies and sing-alongs are so fun and the lyrics, so sincere. But more catchy than the tunes are their videos. I was shown three videos of three of their singles off of Tourist History and all of them were cinematic gold (I guess that should be expected because of their name). But seriously, the camera angles and effects give a very exciting and curious dynamic to the songs. I couldn’t pick my favorite, so here’s two of them for the songs “Come Back Home” and “Something Good Can Work.” And I’m feeling sort of connected to the lyrics in these songs so I’m gonna share some of that with you too…just one of those days.
Favorite lyrics from “Come Back Home”:
‘Let’s get this started girl, we’re moving up we’re moving up but It’s been alot to change but you will always get what you want.’
Favorite Lyrics from “Something Good Can Work”
‘So now your on your own. Won’t you come back home. To see you’re not that kind.
And find the strength. To find the strength. To find another way.’

Just came across this catchy track from Dinosaur today. It’s weird to hear Cumbia music with Irish sounding vocals over the top. It reminds me a lot of Delhi 2 Dublin, except they have this mix of Bhangra and Celtic. I like seeing this more and more and wish it was more prevalent in the States.
